BUNNAYS. had a very fun weekend celebrating some super belated birthdays with a late night shrink plastic party, where i made these funny bunnies for nicole and steph to have forever and ever

its amazing to see plastic shrivel up and then flatten out, its like magic or something

so, i was very inspired by diana’s latest piece, and i’ve been using this really great pencil at work (it looks like a normal pencil, but its blue. and it doesnt look like a colored pencil, which i really dig) which has inspired me to draw with it.

and so, the reason why i stopped drawing for a while is because i really like drawing portraits, but i just can’t get it as realistic as i would like.  its very frustrating for me because i want it to be perfect and i cant get it that way. but tonight, i just didn’t care.  i didn’t want it to be perfect, i didn’t want to get frustrated, i just wanted to have fun. and so, i found a portrait, and just drew.  i just did what i wanted.  and, five minutes later, this is what i made.  and i felt so great.  its such a freeing feeling to just let go and just let the shapes and shadows take over and wow what an amazing thing drawing is

(oh and i know there are some wonky things, like those funky pupils, but thats another story where i never draw pupils because they’re, in my opinion, the hardest parts to draw due to the fact that they are the most expressive part of the face, but i finally just did it and its not the best but its my first time in a long time and whatever)

and this is old, but i recently found it and would definitely like to rediscover the joys of painting small faces
